Creating InfoArea and Info Object

Step By Step Procedure for Creating an Info Area:
·        Info Area Is Main Part for Creating the Basement Space For a Business Database. i.e., Info Objects.
·        We should know Characteristics and Key figures in which Characteristics stands for Dimensions and Key Figures Stands for Numerical Values (Arithmetic Operations).
·        Creating Info Area Is Used To Enhance The Database Modeling.
·        It Is The Directory Used To Organize The Info Objects and Info Provider.
Now Let’s See How To Create The “INFO AREA”……

Here It Is A Data Warehousing Workbench We Are Seeing. And Here We Are Creating Info Area Too.

Right Click On Spaced Area, We Are seeing “Create InfoArea….”…. Just Click On It.

·        While Creating Info Area, Name Can Have 30 characters Maximum and Description Can Have 60 Characters Maximum.
·        Note That The Name Stands As A Technical Name. [Limitations: 30 Characters]
·        Description Stands As Info Objects Name Description. [Limitations: 60 Characters]
·        Note That Tech.Name Should Have Start With Common Character “Z_”
·        As We Created The Info Area. Now We Want To Create The Info Object Catalog.

Conclusion:
Info Area is a Generic Platform and it sophisticated for Creating Proper Business Database.
It is used to organize Info Objects, which have branches and nodes of tree structures called entities.

Step By Step Procedure for Creating Info Objects:
·       Info Object Catalog have Two Types:
Characteristics
Key Figures
·       Characteristics that stands for Dimensions.
o   It is very descriptive. i.e., Used to describe the business entities such as Customers, vendors, Materials, Purchase etc…
·       Key Figure that stands for Measurements.
o   It Is Very Operational. i.e., Used to perform arithmetic operations and do some Aggregation operations such as on Price, Quantity, Amount etc…
·       Now let us see the Creation of Info Object Catalog.

Here we have two categories, Characteristics and Key Figures.
·       Note Limitations:
o   Every Tech Name Have Max. 3 To 8 Characters.
o   Description has Max. 60 Characters.
o   It Is for Creating Info Objects (Entities).
o   It is for Creating DSO Names
o   It is for Creating Cube Names and Many More Objects.

·       Now We Shall Create the Info Objects in Characteristics and Key Figures.
·       Info Objects are the entities of Business related Processes as per Technical Specifications.
·       Example we have business entities like products, material type, date, price, purchases, reported time. So these business entities are the Info Objects.
·       These entities are used for Business related purposes.
·       Now we have to Create Characteristics and key figures; in each section we shall create the info objects.

·       While Creating Info Objects, as per Technical Specifications we shall create the Master Data. And Every Business Database has Master Data and it is Unique.
·       About Master Data, as technical specifications we must use some Entities as master data. When using Master data, we must enable the check box of Master data/texts options.

·       After Enabling the check boxes, Have to create the Navigation Attributes.
·       Navigation Attributes:
o   Navigational Attribute is an attribute which is treated in master data only.
It is the attribute we can filter on and down. Here it is an example.

Here we have Customer is a master data, and we want to navigate the Country entity and to display the city and customer ph no.
·       Navigation stands For an Hierarchal Mode. And Display Stands for a Display Mode. i.e., it is used to display the data.

·       Now we have to name the navigation attribute and description.
·       Next Step Go to, Master data/Texts Tab. and Give relation to fetch data of using the Info area.

·       To Do This, We have to copy the Tech name of Info Area name and make relations with this master data entity.

After completing these steps we want to move to INFO PROVIDER.
In Info Provider, we shall see the related data attributes on it. Now Let’s See the Creation Of:
          DSO
          Info Cubes
Conclusion:
Info Objects are the smallest units of BI. Using Info Objects, Information is mapped in a structured form. This is required for constructing Info Providers.
Info Objects with attributes or texts can themselves also be Info Providers. While Building the Database these Info Area and Info Objects is Main Part in BI / BW. And It is the modeling part.
